Serviced Apartments Paddington

Located in the City of Westminster, Paddington is one of London's most famous areas - and one of its most historic. Luckily for people looking for short term accommodation, it's also home to several great serviced apartments. Paddington is ideally suited for any short stay in London thanks to its prime location and its world famous travel facilities.

Short-term serviced apartments in Paddington offer any visitor the chance to live in the heart of London with all the convenience of a hotel - but without the additional costs a hotel forces upon you. Though there are some excellent pubs, restaurants and cafés in the area, eating out every day soon grows to be a huge expense. Staying in a serviced apartment gives you the centrality of a stay in one of London's prime locations and gives you much more freedom in how you spend your day - as well as a more authentic experience of life in the big city than the standard hotel room.

The biggest attraction of the luxury serviced apartments in Paddington, apart from its proximity to the business and political centres of the city, is the huge amount of history and heritage that can be found in its streets. Most famous of all of these is the Paddington Station; the place that Paddington Bear took his name from upon arriving from darkest Peru, and one of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's most celebrated works of engineering.

One of the more macabre but significant sites in Paddington is no.49 Connaught Square - once home to the infamous Tyburn Gallows, the birthplace of the 17th century populism 'dancing the Tyburn jig' and the execution site of Thomas Culpeper, one of Henry VIII's most notorious executions.

Of course the gruesome past of British capital punishment may not be for some. Thankfully Paddington is also the birthplace of the founder of the Scouts, Robert Baden-Powell, and the home of St Mary's Hospital. Whilst this institution remains as an active healthcare service to this day, it was the site of one of the most significant discoveries in medical history: penicillin. Today visitors can see the where the first antibiotic was found in the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum, a loving restoration of the noble-prize winner's 1928 laboratory which explores the discovery and development of one of the 20th century's greatest inventions.
